  • Discernment Counseling

Discernment counseling is a short-term therapy designed for couples unsure about their relationship's future. It helps you and your partner gain clarity and confidence in deciding whether to pursue divorce or reconciliation. This process explores your relationship’s dynamics, individual contributions to problems, and potential solutions—empowering you to make informed, thoughtful decisions about your future together.

    How Discernment Counseling Works

Initial Assessment (Session 1; 2 hours)

Introduction: Learn about the process and how it works.

Individual Perspectives: Each partner shares their thoughts, concerns, and hopes for the relationship's future.

Individual Sessions (Session 2; 1.5 hours)

Personal Reflection: Dive deeper into each partner’s feelings, motivations, and concerns.

Exploring Contributions: Reflect on each partner's role in the relationship’s challenges and their willingness to work through them.

Joint Sessions (Session 3; 1.5 hours)

Sharing Insights: Discuss what you’ve learned individually and share new perspectives.

Three Paths Discussion: Explore the three potential paths: staying together and committing to therapy, separating or divorcing, or maintaining the status quo while making a final decision.

    Decision-Making (Session 4; 1.5 hours)

Clarifying Choices: Discuss the pros and cons of each path and how they impact your future.

Evaluating Readiness: Assess your readiness for change and what would be needed for either reconciliation or separation.

    Commitment to a Path

Choosing a Direction: Decide which path to take for the relationship’s future.

Action Plan: If you choose to work on your relationship, we’ll create a plan for ongoing therapy. If you decide to separate, we’ll support a respectful transition.

    Follow-Up (Session 5; 1.5 hours)

Checking Progress: Monitor progress if you’re working on the relationship and address new challenges.

Closure: If you’ve decided to separate, we’ll provide final sessions for support and clarity as you both move forward.

Discernment Counseling is for couples who need clarity during a difficult time. It’s a safe space to thoughtfully consider your options and make the best decisions for you, your partner, and any children involved.

Let’s work together to find the path that feels right for you.

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a powerful therapy designed to help you heal from traumatic memories. In this process, you’ll recall distressing events while focusing on an external stimulus, like the therapist’s finger moving back and forth. This unique technique helps your brain reprocess those memories, reducing their emotional impact and promoting healing and peace.

If past experiences are holding you back, EMDR can help you move forward with greater clarity and emotional freedom.

This perspective allows me to help clients and organizations identify patterns, uncover underlying dynamics, and create sustainable solutions.

In addition to therapy, I offer consulting services for both therapy and non-therapy businesses, leveraging my systems approach to help improve communication, foster healthier relationships, and enhance overall performance. Whether you’re looking to optimize team dynamics, improve client outcomes, or navigate organizational changes, my consulting services can guide you toward lasting success. Let's work together to create a more cohesive and effective system, whether within your practice or business.
